How the bakery quote is calculated

The calculator totals the editable cost of ingredients used, active labor, packaging, overhead, delivery, and add-ons, then applies the selected target margin. Defaults are examples—not market prices or legal requirements.

Recipe cost

Package prices are converted to the quantity used. Waste, failed batches, samples, and yield changes must be entered by the baker.

Labor

Use active prep, baking supervision, decorating, cleanup, shopping, messaging, and delivery time that the order actually requires.

Overhead

Utilities, equipment wear, insurance, licensing, software, and non-billable time differ by business and should be replaced with local figures.

Margin

Target margin is applied to the complete cost base. It is not the same as adding the same percentage as a markup.

Official checks before selling food

Home-food rules, labeling, permitted products, inspections, taxes, and insurance vary by location. The FDA’s food-business guidance explains the federal starting point and directs businesses to state and local regulators. Confirm those rules before accepting orders.
